Baked Apple Walnut Crisp

Serves 6
The perfect combination of sweet, tart and crunch.
Ingredients:
6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced |
2 tablespoons lemon juice |
2 tablespoons flour |
1/3 cup sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon |
2 tablespoons butter |
Crumb Topping: |
1 cup oats |
1/3 cup brown sugar |
3 tablespoons flour |
2 tablespoons butter |
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts |
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375° F.
- Place the sliced apples in a large mixing bowl, pour lemon juice over them and stir to coat.
- Combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon and in a small mixing bowl. Mix until small crumbs form.
- Pour the flour mixture over the apples and stir well. Transfer to a large inch baking dish. Set aside.
- To make crumb topping, place oats in a food processor and pulse for a few seconds. Transfer the oats to a mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar, flour, butter and chopped walnuts. Mix together well.
- Sprinkle the topping over the apples. Place baking dish in the oven and bake for 45 minutes, until the top is lightly browned, and the apples are soft.
- Remove from oven and let cool before serving.
