Cheesy Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Serves 4
The adult version of the classic meal.
Ingredients:
16 oz elbow macaroni |
1 lb ground sausage |
3 cloves garlic, minced |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons flour |
1 cup chicken broth |
1 cup heavy cream |
2 cups shredded Italian blend cheese |
2 cups shredded parmesan cheese |
Salt, to taste |
Pepper, to taste |
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Cook macaroni according to package directions, drain water and set aside. Grease a 4-quart casserole dish with cooking spray, set aside.
- Bring a large skillet to medium heat, brown sausage and garlic for about 10 minutes. Drain excess oil from pan. Add butter and stir in flour, cook for 1 minute.
- Add chicken broth and heavy cream and bring to a boil, stirring frequently for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cooked macaroni, 2 cups shredded Italian blend cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour into prepared casserole and top with shredded Parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, the top should be golden brown.
